Review of Week 1
05/10/22
6 teams got off to a winning start on Monday night.
The early table toppers are Point Break and Screwballs who both won by 9 frames to 3.
There were also wins for Century, Lucky Break, Tidy Rack and Aces.
In a prelude to the League Cup Final Usual Suspects lost to Screwballs. It looked like it was going to be a close-run thing at 3-3 before Screwballs won the remaining 6 frames for a resounding victory.
Aces were always in front against Blue Arrows and came through 7-5 winners after a good start by Graeme Innes: A 3-0 win against Kris Ballantyne took the pressure off the rest of his teammates.
A strong win for Century against The Untouchables was very much a team effort with all players winning 2-1!
Tidy Rack raced into a 5-0 lead against Chancers. To their credit, Chancers fought back well, and had Simon Clark managed to win his final frame against Scott Banks, they would have got a well-earned draw. As it was, Scott managed to win that all important last frame to win 7-5.
It was close all the way for Lucky Break and Baize of Glory. Again, this match came down to the last frame with Steven Stamp winning 3-0 against Martyn Muir to claim the victory.
Last, but not least, Point Break defeated Potting Bowlers. Point Break were 6-0 up, with 3-0 wins for both Paul Williams and Sophie Nix. Ian Boyd and Derek Muir managed to pick up 3 frames between them to make the score a little more respectable for the newly formed Potting Bowlers.
