1 Frame Challenge Report week 2

The final qualifying groups for the 1 Frame Challenge Competition were played on Monday night 14/04/25. Four groups of 5 players were playing for 8 qualiying places ( 2 from each group).

Group A was a tightly contested affair as all 5 players finished the group with 2 wins each and a blue ball shoot out involving all 5 players was required to get down to the 2 qualifiers. Stephen Shaw booked his place after 4 rounds having been succesful in 3 of his 4 attempts , the other 4 players were tied on 1 with one last attempt each. Sam McDonald with the only successful attempt was the player to clinch the second qualifying place.

Group B was also close with David Mitchell top of the group with 3 wins out of 4. Graeme Innes , James Higgins and Graham McQuaid were all tied with 2 wins each and the second qualifying spot was decided by virtue of the head to head results of the 3 players with Graham McQuaid taking the final place having won both of his matches against Graeme and James.

Group C was dominated by Jamie Lynn (4 wins) and Geo Edgar (3 wins) , both qualifying before their final match against each other where Jamie prevailed to top the group

Group D was decided on the very last frame of the evening , with a winner takes all clash between Willie Gelleburn and Stewart Garrick with Willie coming out on top and claiming the last qualifying place . Chris Giffney had topped the group with 4 wins out of 4 and a top break of 54 in the process.

The 8 qualifiers , Stephen Shaw, Sam McDonald, David Mitchell , Graham McQuaid , Jamie Lynn , Geo Edgar , Chris Giffney and Willie Gelleburn will play in the knockout stages on Finals Day to decide the eventual winner.
